The concept of twinning is one which links not just people and places but also culture, understanding and heritage.

The seed for this lasting and enduring relationship was sown by the planting of a tree in 1999 at St Colmcille’s Boys School in Ballymahon, by the advance visiting group from Landevant in Brittany. This was then cemented by the twinning ceremonies in Ballymahon in 2001 and in Landevant in 2002.

The success of the charter to date has been based on cultural, education and social activity. We arrange annual visits on alternate years, we go to France one year, they come here the next. Each year these holidays are highly organised and planned together well in advance so that both the holiday-maker and the host has a wonderful time!

The visits, from both sides points of view have been memorable for the hospitality shown by all those involved, and the fun, laughter, songs, music and friendships forged. Student exchange and house exchange have similarly been arranged. It is a great opportunity to showcase our values, culture and traditions which we hold so dear, as well as our country at its best! We are always happy to receive new members who would have an interest in getting involved.
