Death of Mrs Mary Ann Eivers:  It was with deep regret that we learnt of the peaceful death on February 4th 2020 of Mrs Mary Ann Eivers (nee Fitzmaurice), Cloncullen, Ballymahon in the loving care of the staff at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home.   Born in Dublin over 90 years ago, Mary Ann moved down to Creevaghmore at a young age and met her future husband, the late Tom, at a Dance in Kenagh.   They lived in Derrahawn for a short while before buying a farm in Cloncullen over sixty years ago where they reared their fine family of nine, she was hugely proud of them all.      She was a lovely lady, quiet and inoffensive, a great neighbour who loved farming life.    All those who called to her home down the years, workers and friends were always guaranteed a good hot meal.    She enjoyed a game of cards and her Bingo and also loved to go for a walk.   A long-time member of the local Club ’91,  Mary Ann also attended the Day Care Centre on a regular basis.    She moved in to Thomond Village here in town about four years ago where she was very popular with all the neighbours.                                                                                                                                                                                     A huge number of people called to Thomond Lodge Nursing Home where her remains lay in repose on Thursday evening last , to her Removal to St. Matthews Church and again at her Funeral Mass on Friday morning to pay their respects to Mary Ann’s family which bore testimont to the respect which has been held for the Eivers family over the years.     Fr. Liam Murray celebrated the Mass at which the Church Choir participated and Mary Ann would certainly have been so proud of her grand-daughter singing the beautiful song “How great thou art” before the congregation left the Church.  The gifts brought to the altar, a Pot plant because of her love of gardening, some Holy Water as she loved to visit Knock Shrine and a family photo which related to her great love of her family.   Also brought to the Altar was a Trophy.  Over the years Mary Ann and Tom won many Ballroom Dancing trophies, they loved dancing and did so all over the Country on a regular basis.  They made a fine couple on the dance floor.    Her daughter Margaret read a lovely Reflection at the end of the Mass titled “A Cross in my pocket”.     We extend our deepest sympathy to Mary Ann’s sons Liam, Michael, Tom Jnr., Gerry and Oliver, daughters Margaret, Bernadette, Geraldine and Fiona, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law Loretto and Pauline, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.    May her Soul rest in peace.
