Club ’91:   Club ’91 ended the year with a very enjoyable Dinner Dance in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule.  They thank them for the lovely food which, as usual,  was first class  and the staff for their professionalism.   Many thanks also to Una Flynn for the lovely Christmas Cake and Seamus and Brendan for the music which got them all into the Christmas spirit.    A big thank you to the people who donated prizes for the raffle , a great night was had by all.                                                                                              Thanks also to their bus driver, Bernie Hackett.   The Club’s Chairperson, Mai wish all members a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.     At this time of year they are thinking of members who died during the year, especially Mary Kenny and Mary Rowan and indeed all members who have lost loved ones.      The Club resumes on  8th January to work off all the excesses and start up the weekly fun and togetherness.

Sympathy :  we wish to extend our deepest sympathy to John McCaul, Parkside, Ballymahon on the death of his father, Felix, Ardagh and late of Raferagh, Co Monaghan which occurred on 20th December 2019 at the Regional Hospital, Mullingar.  Felix is pre-deceased by his son Henry and great-grandson Liam.    Our condolences also to his wife Betty, daughters Patricia, Margaret and Janette, sons Gerry and Ronnie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother John and sister Mar, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, and all his relatives and friends.     May he rest in peace.

Death of Aisling Walsh:  The sad death occurred on 20th December 2019 of Aisling Walsh, The Granary, Ballymahon and formerly Ballymun, Dublin.  Aisling passed away suddenly at Mullingar Regional Hospital.  We offer our deepest sympathy to her mother Catherine, partner Eddie, her son and daughters Charlene, Shauna, Chantelle, Caithlin (Bobby Jo) and Ross, her brothers Mark, Darren and Edward, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.   Her remains were laid to rest at Dardistown Cemetery in Dublin .  May her Soul rest in peace.

G.A.A.  We wish the best of luck to the Longford Senior football team when they meet Wicklow in the O’Byrne Cup.

Mass:  Mass in St. Matthews church on Wednesday 1stJanuary will be at 12.00.    As this Friday is the 1st Friday of the month, Communion calls will be on Thursday January 2nd.   Envelopes are available at the Church doors for those who would like to contribute to the Dues/Offerings collection

Ballymahon G.A.A.Club: are holding their A.G.M. on January 4th 2020 at the Clubhouse.   All members are requested to attend.  Newcomers always welcome.    

Ballymahon Bridgeways Resource Centre:  will re-open on this coming Monday 6th January following their Christmas Break.

Happy New Year:  to all our Readers at home and abroad a very happy and peaceful New Year.  There were lots of familiar faces around over the Christmas of young people from the area who came home for the Festival holiday.  We hope they all enjoyed themselves.
