St. Vincent de Paul:  On this coming weekend, the 7thand 8th December the Annual Church Gate Collection for the local Branch of St. Vincent de Paul takes place at St. Matthews Church.    They are always grateful for your support.   Donations received will go towards helping the less well off in our locality.   Thank you.

Alzheimer Café:  Longford Alzheimer Café will hold their Christmas Celebrations Night on Wednesday 11th December in The Attic Building, Ballinalee road, Longford, just down from St. Mel’s Cathedral, from 7.00p.m. to 9.00p.m.        Music will be provided by Seamus Farrell and The Innyside Singers from Ballymahon.   Festive treats will be served on the night and there will also be a free raffle.   Anyone who is affected by Dimentia is welcome to come.   For more information you can contact Eileen or Breda on 085 8724475 or Longford ASI Office  on 043 33 48402/47221.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception:  To honour Our Lady on this special Feast Day, the Rosary will be recited at 3p.m. on Sunday next 8th December at Sisters of Mercy House, Main Street.  This event is open to everyone in the locality.

Social Club:  The Alzheimer Society of Ireland , Longford Branch, will hold their Social Club in The Convent Daycare & Resource Centre, Upper Main Street, Ballymahon every Friday  from 3.00p.m. to 5.00p.m.     The aim of the Social Club is to provide an informal, flexible and fun opportunity for people with Dementia, and their Carers, to meet with others.   For more information contact Jackie on 087 6721522 or the branch office on 043 33 48402.

Citizens Information:  A Citizen’s Information Drop In Service will be held in Bridgeways every Tuesday evening from 4.30p.m. to 6.30p.m.      The Citizens Information Board is a National Agency responsible for supporting the provision of information, advice and advocacy on social services, and for the provision of the Money Advice and Budgeting Service.

Christmas Carol Service:   Ballymahon Church Choir together with the Innyside Singers will be holding their annual Christmas Carol Service on Sunday 8th December at 8.00p.m.     in St. Matthews Church.   All are welcome.    The local Schools Carol Service will also be held in the Church on Wednesday 18th December.

Death of John Jackson:    We wish to extend our sincere sympathy to Ailish and Hannah Jackson,  Rathconrath, former pupils of Ballymahon Mercy Secondary School on the death last week of their grandfather, John, Ballinacarrow, Rathconrath at Mullingar General Hospital.  Our condolences also to John’s wife Maureen, sons Steve and John, daughters-in-law, grandchildren Holly and Poppy, relatives, neighbours and friends.  May he rest in peace.

Wilder & Gold:  a Christmas Customer Night is being held at “Wilder & Gold” Café on Main Street on this Friday, December 6th from 6pm to 8pm.     Katie Gallagher will be singing Carols and Mulled Wine and Christmas nibbles will be served.

Death of Frances McLoughlin:   Our deepest sympathy is extended to the relatives, neighbours and many friends of Ms Frances McLoughlin, Pallas, Ballymahon, whose peaceful death occurred, in her 94th year at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon on 25thNovember last.     A lovely, quiet and hard-working farmer all her life,   Frances is pre-deceased by her brothers T.J. and James.   Her Funeral Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Forgney followed by Cremation in Lakelands Crematorium , Cavan.    May her Soul rest in peace.
